They have the art of putting on a show down to a science. Maybe more of a habit. Argue if you wish that they are over the hill, but they still have flair and they still have passion for the music. Catch them at an intimate venue and it is impossible not to get sucked into their grasp of timeless rock and roll. For Torontonians, the Stones have surprised many with their small impromtu gigs.

Heroic filmmaker, Martin Scorsese captured two nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre on October 29 and November 1, 2006 for the documentary Shine a Light. Footage from the shows is intercut with backstage footage, historical clips and contemporary interviews with the band. The shows were noted for their star-studded crowds, including former President Bill Clinton. The film also shows Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera performing with the band.

Shine a Light is scheduled for release on April 4th, 2008.

Have a peak at the trailer below.
