Songs tough to shake…from your mind
I remember the Ongoing History of New Music with Alan Cross addressing this issue once. Why do certain songs get stuck in your head? Is it the vibe, the personal connection, or a specific mix of melody and hook? Regardless of the formula or tags given, they take over the mind and hold on for the long haul…sometimes years.
Here are some tracks that I’ve found myself singing and thought, “I haven’t heard that songs for ages, why the hell am I singing _____…”
I haven’t heard this song in years, but I find myself belting it out in the car at least once a month…weird.
Something about this track has dominated my mind since I first heard it. The Ladies were my first concert - saw them when I was in grade 5 at the Bayshore Arena in Owen Sound. I’m glad no one will ever know that.
The most recent…I’ll hum this even when I am old and gray and grumpy as hell.

Hey Mike,
Great choices for sticky songs. Love the first, like the second (MUCH better than their later stuff), and thanks for introducing me to the third.
