The Virgin Festival has added The Kooks, Silversun Pickups, The Fratellis, Against Me!, MGMT and more to their line up. Virgin Festival Toronto will shake out on September 6th and 7th at Toronto Island Park. Tickets for all these events are on sale now.
There was much happening after last night’s MMVA’s…numerous after parties, flowing drinks and what was dubbed as an ‘Aftermath’ – a half-hour set that was streamed online at muchmusic.com and broadcast live on MuchMoreMusic. The El Mocambo Tavern (462-464, Spadina Ave., Toronto ON M5T 2G8) (aka “The El Mo”) is a live music Toronto institution. I obviously like going to see bands play live. I feel it is a fair trade for my money. I’ll gladly shell out dollars to watch a band work. I often take on to a band and then surf to see when they’ll be playing in Toronto. More importantly – where they will be playing in Toronto. My heart sinks a bit when I read the venue being The Kool Haus. I’ve seen some good shows at the Kool Haus and yes, there are worse venues in the city…but not many. Concertaholics posts great concert reviews of shows in and around Toronto. One recent concert that has been talked about a lot as of late was Eric Clapton at the Amphitheatre. The recurring comment is, “this guy seems to be getting better and better.”

North by Northeast (or NXNE) is an annual four-day live music and film festival and music conference in Toronto, Ontario held the second weekend each June. This year’s Festival will run from June 12th – 16th.
It began in 1996 and was patterned on the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
