After a short hiatus, The Assistants are back performing live again with new drummer Evan Bender. The band has a show booked for Friday April 18th @ Rancho Relaxo. The show comes by way of the ongoing ‘Two way monologues’ music series.
The show starts at 9pm and the cost at the door is $7

Alright fellow guitarists, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo wants fans to “come up with some chords, yo,” for a song tentatively titled 80’s Rock.  
Rivaldinho (Cuomo) will be using YouTube in an attempt to collaborate with songwriters online.
Rivers released a solo album in December 2007 entitled Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, which featured home demos that Cuomo had recorded from 1992-2007.
So here is a plan for tonight…indulge in some libation and help write the next hit for Cuomo.  If all goes well, maybe you too can be a recluse rock star.

I’ve always been a big fan of NOW Magazine. For the most part their music coverage of what’s going on in the city and beyond is solid. However, it’s their interviews that I especially enjoy. Interviewers don’t ask questions that are of interest to me, but the folks employed at NOW often pry answers to questions I would ask the artist myself. This is likey because the interviews are a few beers or other in.

Adding to the already explosive Montreal indie scene, We Are Wolves have taken attacked Canada, the States, Europe and all music media along the way.
The band has been featured in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Spin. They have played SXSW, Virgin Fest and they also performed live on the first episode of CBC’s live concert series CBC Radio 3 Sessions. Their second album Total Magique was released September 4th 2007, with a new label Dare To Care records.

Toronto Unplugged relies on many great people to provide us with our gig reviews. The founder of Martin’s Bike Shop has been rockin’ gigs for years and was lucky enough to catch the Foo Fighters Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre. Tuesday will be a big day for Raconteurs fans. The Raconteurs – consisting of Jack White and Brendan Benson – have reportedly ‘rushed’ the release of their second album entitled Consolers Of The Lonely.
The album which was finished only weeks ago (the first week of March) is highly anticipated as the band teased fans with the notion of the album likely to be a “drug-fueled” record.
Consolers Of The Lonely will feature 14 tracks, and is a follow up to 2006’s Broken Boy Soldiers.

The Rolling Stones have always been a band with a talent for entertainment. They have the art of putting on a show down to a science. Maybe more of a habit. Argue if you wish that they are over the hill, but they still have flair and they still have passion for the music.
