Top Concert Venues: Jane Bond (Waterloo)

Sure Waterloo is a 50 minute drive from Toronto, but Jane Bond really is a gem.

If you want to feel as though an artist is playing live in your living room, except your living room is packed with strangers who have come to see the same artist…than go see a show at Jane Bond.

“I think you just have to go once or twice and know why you like Jane Bond”

The place is a 70’s throwback – orange (and overall vibrant) interior, funky lamps and lighting, glitzy tables, and the house selection of music is always worth the trip in itself.

Located at 005 Princess Street North, Jane Bond is a local favorite for enjoying some drinks, grabbing a bite and on certain nights, enjoying bands too big to be playing one of the most intimate venues in Ontario. The venue seats no more than 25 and hold no more than 50.

The reason I’m including Jane Bond as a Toronto venue is because even Waterloo’ers need to make a night of seeing a gig at Jane Bond, so Toronto fans should as well. To really enjoy a show at Jane Bond, you need to arrive with your ticket 15-20 minutes before the doors are set to open. Grab a table close to the make-shift stage and set up camp for the night.

Their newly revamped menu offers more choices than before and the food is generally quite good and reasonably priced. The beer selection is great including a few local craft brews on tap. And…they make a mean cocktail.

In order to get the true experience, seeing a show at Jane Bond really is a full night out. For Torontonians, make a night of it and grab a room at a nearby hotel, so you can enjoy some of the local pubs after the show.

Jane Bond pulls in new artists, but they also pull in established ones that you wouldn’t normal see at a venue of this size. The artists play Jane Bond because it is unique and makes for an experience like no other.

Acts to play Jane Bond…Frank Black (Pixies), Hayden, Danny Michel, Joel Plaskett, Ron Hawkins (Lowest of the Low) and Run With The Kittens

The same owners also own the Starlight just around the corner. A venue with a similar vibe, but much bigger space to house bigger acts.
