Acoustic vibe at the Cameron House tomorrow…

Here’s a great plan for tomorrow night.  Call up a date, head to the Cameron House, order a couple craft beers and make your way to the back room.
There is a very cool, high quality acoustic line-up at the Cam House tomorrow night.
408 Queen Street West…
Here’s who’s playing…
Troy Western w Rayna – bit more upbeat acoustic folk rock.
Mandippal Jandue – comes off very soft and soulful, yet his lyrics carry the weight of a great songwriter and musician.  If you’re going to go tomorrow night, don’t miss Mandippal’s set at roughly 10:30.

Concert Review: Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew

Concert Review: Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew

Musician and songwriter, Kevin Drew – who, together with Brendan Canning, founded the expansive Toronto baroque-pop collective Broken Social Scene – played the Kool Haus on Saturday night. Drew, along with many BSS’ers, were playing a solid repertoire of Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew’s Spirit If…
Our man Joe Manocchio was at the gig and had this to say:
“The opening band was great. Kevin Drew was great and he played for over 2 hours straight, sans encore. I had to leave the show at around 12:10 and they were still on stage. The show was pretty …read more

Live Review: Bedouin Soundclash – London, ON

Live Review: Bedouin Soundclash – London, ON

Gig: November 29th – During opening acts, St. Alvia Cartel and Matt Costa’s sets I was extremely curious about the back drop that was chosen. It was ‘Miss Saigon’ inspired, and although looked kinda cool, it seemed dull and needed something.
Then three piece Bedouin Soundclash walked on stage. Frontman Jay Malinowski calmly leaned into the mic and shouted, “Until We Burn!” which echoed throughout the small and intimate Cowboy’s in London and the band cranked in to ‘Until We Burn in the Sun‘.
From the first skin hit by drummer Pat Pengelly, the Miss Saigon/Tropical backdrop exploded with …read more

Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collett’s @ DAKOTA TAVERN

Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collett is playing the Dakota Tavern on Tuesday night.
Most singer/songwriters are lonely souls with only a stool, an acoustic guitar and a heart-worn sleeve. Not Jason Collett. Oh sure, the Broken Social Scene guitarist has his instrument and a stack of intimate tales to tell-but his new solo album, Idols of Exile, sounds more like a house party.
What’s going on at the Dakota for the rest of the week?

Concert Review: Matt Costa in London, ON

Concert Review: Matt Costa in London, ON

I was lucky enough to catch Matt Costa live on November 29th at Cowboys in London.
Costa is currently supporting Bedouin Soundclash on their cross Canada tour and he adds a great acoustic feel to the bill, which also features Burlington, Ontario punk rockers The St. Alvia Cartel.
After St. Alvia finished their short set, Costa took to the stage with bandmates Mitchell Townsend (guitar), Jacob Sahagen (keyboards), Harris Pittman (bass) and James Fletcher (drums) to provide a folksy vibe with songs from his 2006 release Songs We Sing and to crank out a few tracks from his recent Oct 2007 release …read more

Music IP Playground

In The Good Musician’s post – 19 Great Music Sites – Arjun features Music IP as the second best Music site on the web. Music IP has been a partner of b5media for quite some time, but I have to admit, I hadn’t been to the site in quite some time. After checking it out again, I instantly remember why it occupied so much of my time when I first discovered it.
